Berkshire Brewing Co. “Shabadoo”

March 6, 2010 7:40 am

Tapped 3/5/10

BBC says:

A full bodied dark ale which is a blend of our Berkshire Ale and Drayman’s Porter. It combines the caramel malt flavor of the pale ale with the chocolate roasted taste of the porter. Shabadoo is a complete and delicious ale. 6.3%

10% of the proceeds go to the Western Mass Food Bank in honor of Joe, the creator and our good friend.

Kicked 3/26/10 (after 21 days).  Good beer but not the best BBC beer I’ve had though.  It had a sweet hoppyness to it that I wasn’t a huge fan of – sort of like a spiced IPA.

Berkshire Brewing Co. “Berkshire Ale”

February 7, 2010 12:26 pm

Berkshire describes this beer as, “A Traditional Pale Ale with a deep copper color, a caramel/malt flavor and a very rich hop aroma and flavor. Available on draft, 64oz. growlers and 22oz. bottles (Ale for two). 6.3%”

I’ve only had a couple pints from it but like it a lot.  It has a hint of spice that could almost make it a light winter beer.

Tapped during the Super Bowl, 2/7/2010.  Kicked 3/5/10.

Tapped 11/13/09 and paired with BBC’s “Cabin Fever Ale”.  Kicked 12/13/09, after 30 days.  Good beer – I might actually like it better than BBC’s Coffeehouse Porter.

Berkshire Brewing Co. “Floor Malt Pilsner”

I’m hoping to pick this one up today/tomorrow – had a huge delay making space since we weren’t drinking much recently. Apparently this one is quite rare.

From BBC’s website, “Now Available!! Limited Specialty in DRAFT only! This Pilsner is a true lager brewed with authentic Czech Republic two row floor malt. It is light in color, dry & crisp and hopped with Czech Sazz to impart a subtle bitterness in the finish.”

From Tim (Beer guru at Colonial), “BBC is releasing a Pilsner next week. It is only made every few years but they might be bringing it back if this batch goes well.”

I’m late to pick it up (arrived early May, now late June) and I hope it’s still there.  It received a “B+” on BeerAdvocate (off three ratings so far) so I’m excited to try it.

Kicked after 2 about weeks! Great summer beer.
