Berkshire Brewing Co. “River Ale”

March 26, 2010 1:05 pm

In my quest to serve every BBC product, we’re down to the 2nd to last non-seasonal beer (there are four seasonal beers as well).  BBC’s River Ale has a “B+” rating on BA.  I’ve never had it before but a dark ale with malty flavor sounds good to me.

BBC says;

A medium bodied dark ale which contains a portion of wheat malt. River Ale has a slightly sweet malty, nutty flavor and is delicately hopped to provide a unique and pleasing taste. 7.0%

Tapped 3/26/10.  Kicked 5/04/10.

Berkshire Brewing Co. “Shabadoo”

Tapped 3/5/10

BBC says:

A full bodied dark ale which is a blend of our Berkshire Ale and Drayman’s Porter. It combines the caramel malt flavor of the pale ale with the chocolate roasted taste of the porter. Shabadoo is a complete and delicious ale. 6.3%

10% of the proceeds go to the Western Mass Food Bank in honor of Joe, the creator and our good friend.

Kicked 3/26/10 (after 21 days).  Good beer but not the best BBC beer I’ve had though.  It had a sweet hoppyness to it that I wasn’t a huge fan of – sort of like a spiced IPA.

Treo

When I saw this come through Boston.com’s Big Picture I knew the Black Lab Bar would have to solute Treo.  Here’s what Boston.com wrote:

Treo, an eight-year-old black Labrador from the Military Working Dogs, was presented with Britain’s Dickin medal, awarded for bravery and commitment in wartime, the highest military honor an animal can expect at the Imperial War Museum in London on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010. Treo was decorated for his work sniffing out explosives in Afghanistan. (AP Photo/Sang Tan)

Well done, Treo!
